Before we do something, we need a reason, a motivating factor, a WHY.
When seeking to improve health and wellbeing, it’s no different. Finding the WHY, however deep down it may be; is critical. After all….
...transformation occurs in the mind before the body...
Whilst this may seem like common sense, when you actually stop and think about it, it explains why we sometimes don’t achieve what we set out to do, we lose sight of the WHY and wander off in another direction. This can lead to unnecessary feelings of guilt and self-criticism.
Keeping the WHY front and centre when working towards a goal will help you stay on track. If you are having a moment and need some motivation, having a clear picture of WHY you started on this track will help you push through a difficult phase. When goals are long term commitments, such as weight loss or even weight gain, we need this reminder throughout to get us to the end goal.
If we haven’t truly decided deep down that we want something and we don’t know WHY we are heading in a certain direction, we won’t follow that direction and the outcomes we want won’t be shown.
So next time you set out to tackle a goal, make a commitment to you and first answer WHY – why do I want this? Why am I doing this? Why is this important to me?
Jot it down, stick it around and have a clear picture of it in your mind, but most importantly, make sure it’s true to you.
